Lajoplin Nongsiej is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Textile Design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), where she has been serving since 2016. She specialises in textile design, craft-based design intervention, and textile surface development. Prior to joining NIFT, she worked as a Craft Consultant and Textile Designer, contributing to several craft development and revival initiatives.

Her research interests include design research, design thinking, craft studies, textile surface design, and sustainable value addition in traditional textiles. She has contributed to research publications and involved in sponsored projects, academic research, and institutional initiatives. She has also contributed to national and international exhibitions showcasing eri silk on global platform.

At NIFT, she mentors students through design-led learning and research while promoting collaboration with artisans and industry. She is committed to preserving indigenous textile knowledge and advancing its application in contemporary design education and sustainable practice.
