Ms Saurabhi Gaurav is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Leather Design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Raebareli, where she also serves as the Student Development Activity Coordinator (SDAC). She has over ten years of professional experience across the design industry and academia. She specializes in leather design, pattern making, product development, and design education. She received her Bachelor's degree in Leather Design from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kolkata, completed her Master's degree in Social Design from Dr B. R. Ambedkar University Delhi, and is currently pursuing her PhD at Delhi Technological University (DTU), Delhi.
Her research interests include inclusive and universal design, sustainable design interventions in handicrafts, design pedagogy, and participatory design. Her doctoral research explores design-led approaches for developing sustainable and socially relevant interventions for traditional craft ecosystems.
Before joining academia, Ms Gaurav worked as a leather accessories designer with reputed brands and international clients and also undertook freelance UI/UX design projects. At NIFT, she mentors undergraduate students and actively contributes to academic and co-curricular initiatives. Her interests include Indian handloom and handicrafts, social innovation, and sustainable design.
