Raebareli CampusDr. Chhavi Gangwar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Raebareli. She holds a Ph.D. in Clothing and Textiles from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda and is UGC-NET qualified. With over ten years of teaching and research experience, her areas of expertise include technical textiles, sustainable materials, apparel design, draping, pattern making, and natural fibre innovations.
Her research focuses on sustainable textile materials and the utilization of natural fibres for advanced textile applications. Her patented research on sugarcane bagasse fibre received recognition from the Ministry of Textiles for its contribution to sustainable textile innovation. She has published her work in peer-reviewed and NAAS-rated journals and has presented her work at National and International platforms. Her research is strengthened through collaborations with academic institutions and industry.
Dr. Gangwar actively mentors students and contributes to curriculum development and industry–academia initiatives. She regularly participates in faculty development programmes, workshops, and professional conferences. Her interests include sustainable fashion, traditional textiles & handloom Weaving, product innovation, and interdisciplinary research, reflecting her commitment to advancing responsible and innovation-driven fashion education.
