Darshan’s design philosophy centers on authenticity and originality. He aims to craft costumes that blend seamlessly with the narrative, enhancing both the emotional tone and realism of a film or series. His designs showcase his adaptability across diverse genres, time periods, and characters—each piece meticulously crafted to reflect the essence of the story. He began his career designing menswear for prominent Indian brands such as Provogue and Killer Jeans, before transitioning to cinema with his debut film Matrubhoomi: A Nation Without Women (2003). Since then, Darshan has built an impressive body of work that includes acclaimed films such as 3 Idiots (2009), Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015), Kahaani 2 (2016), Sui Dhaaga (2018), Ram Prasad Ki Tehrvi, and Laapataa Ladies.

He is also celebrated for his iconic costume design in the hit series Mirzapur (2018), which earned him widespread recognition. Over the years, Darshan has been nominated for Best Costume Design for multiple films and series, including Ankhon Dekhi, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Kahaani 2, Ram Prasad Ki Tehrvi, Sui Dhaaga, and Mirzapur: Season 2.

With his versatility and creative vision, Darshan Jalan continues to shape the visual language of Indian cinema, redefining how costume design supports storytelling.
