Ananda Babu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Communication at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bengaluru, where he teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students. He holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication and Journalism from Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University ( A Central University) Lucknow, and a master’s degree from Pondicherry University (A Central University) Pondicherry.
His professional experience spans teaching, research, journalism, and television production. Before joining NIFT, he worked with prominent television news channels in Hyderabad as an investigative journalist and producer and taught at institutions including the Delhi School of Journalism and JAIN (Deemed University) Bengaluru. His research interests include artificial intelligence in Fashion Communication education, media and communication studies, social media, visual communication, craft communication, cultural studies, and higher education. He has published more than 20 research papers and presented his research at international conferences, including IAMCR in Finland and IFFTI in London.
His academic engagement also encompasses craft documentation, branding, content strategy, and industry-oriented collaborative projects. Beyond academics, Dr. Ananda Babu is interested in photography, filmmaking, visual storytelling. He actively mentors students through research, field-based learning, competitions, and industry engagement, fostering creativity, critical thinking, interdisciplinary learning, and socially responsible communication.
