Nithya Venkataraman is an Associate Professor with the Department of Knitwear Design at NIFT Bengaluru, teaching in areas covering Trend and Forecast research, Merchandising and Buying, Activewear and Athleisure and Research methodology. Her areas of interest include studying consumption patterns in retail, Trend mapping and Spotting, and Effective Storytelling for Sustainable consumption. Her doctoral thesis covered the feasibility and acceptance of deconstructed unsold retail stock, and has presented her thoughts in various conferences and SCOPUS refereed publications. She is the recipient of the IFFTI initiative award for Senior faculty in the year 2022. She enjoys reading and writing, is an avid traveler , and has been dabbling with music since her younger days! Passionate about decoding the fashion business through research, business and heartfelt classroom discussions- she seeks to bring her nearly 3 decades of work experience to make fashion meaningful.
