Assistant Professor, Fashion Communication (BDes)
Dr. B. Raja serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Communication at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bengaluru, India, where he has been a faculty member since 2009. He earned his Ph.D. in Mass Communication from the Central University of Tamil Nadu and possesses extensive academic training in journalism, electronic media, and communication. With more than two decades of experience in higher education and media studies, Dr. Raja has previously served as a faculty member at Madras Christian College and A. M. Jain College, Chennai. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he has held significant academic administrative positions, including Head of the Department of Fashion Communication and Controller of Examinations at NIFT Bengaluru.
An accomplished scholar, educator, and media practitioner, Dr. Raja's areas of expertise include fashion communication, fashion journalism, photography, cinema, and digital media. His research and publications encompass a wide range of topics, including fashion media, visual culture, photography, social media communication, and the integration of emerging technologies in education. He has designed and delivered courses in photography, fashion photography, communication, public relations, and digital storytelling, contributing to the development of future professionals in the fashion and media industries. Through his research, publications, invited lectures, and creative practice, Dr. Raja continues to advance scholarly and professional discourse at the intersection of fashion, media, and communication in an evolving global landscape.
