Sneha Jha is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Textile Design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bengaluru, specializing in handloom weaving and craft clusters. Her expertise spans textile design practice, material culture, and craft-based production. She trained as a textile designer at NIFT Bengaluru and graduated as a gold medallist, and she completed a Master of Journalism and Mass Communication. She previously held design and development roles in industry and consulted on a government craft-skilling program.

Her research interests lie in material culture, textile heritage, craft ecologies, and sustainable textile futures. She examines how craft and dress knowledge is documented, classified, and circulated in digital systems and argues for participatory, community-anchored documentation. Her work also reads regional painting and craft traditions as living archives of place and memory. 

She mentors textile design students and supervises their studio and research work. She maintains an active engagement with artisan communities and handloom clusters and works across disciplines, drawing on her training in media and communication to consider how design knowledge is represented and circulated.
