Supriya Munda is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Communication at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bhubaneswar. She is a graduate in Textile Design from NIFT Bengaluru (2009 batch) and holds a Master’s degree in Journalism and Communication. She is currently pursuing her PhD and has over 17 years of professional experience across industry and academia. Her areas of specialization include design processes and methods, material studies, design fundamentals, graphic design, fashion communication, craft research and documentation, and visual communication.

Alongside teaching and research, Supriya Munda actively engages in student mentoring, craft documentation, academic outreach, and institutional initiatives at NIFT Bhubaneswar. She works towards connecting design education with artisan communities through research, field-based learning, documentation, and collaborative projects. Her professional interests include visual storytelling, heritage communication, craft-based design, graphic design, and exploring contemporary approaches to the preservation and promotion of Indian handloom and craft traditions.
