Dr. Vishal Gupta is an Associate Professor at the NIFT, Gandhinagar, and currently serves as the Campus Academic Coordinator. With over two decades of experience in academia, industry, consultancy, and design, he specializes in fashion design, apparel product development, uniform design, design management, sustainable fashion, apparel sizing and fit, fashion retail, and curriculum development. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses, mentors student projects, and actively contributes to academic planning and industry collaborations. His research interests include plus-size fashion apparel, consumer behaviour, sustainable fashion, fashion education, apparel fit, and design interventions for traditional crafts. He completed his PhD on female consumer purchase behaviour in the plus-size apparel segment in Gujarat and has published research papers in peer-reviewed journals. He has authored articles on sustainable fashion, Khadi, and design, and has led consultancy and sponsored projects on uniform design, product development, artisan cluster development, and craft promotion for government organizations and public sector enterprises. He has also delivered keynote lectures and presented research at national and international forums. Dr. Gupta actively promotes industry–academia collaboration through consultancy, design workshops, international exchange programmes, and community engagement initiatives. He mentors students in research, design innovation, and entrepreneurship while supporting the preservation and contemporary application of India's traditional crafts. His professional interests include fashion forecasting, sustainable textiles, craft documentation, and design-led social development.
