Mr. Sunil Kumar is an Assistant Professor with over 20 years of professional and academic experience in the fields of jewellery design & technology, craft-based design, and material exploration. His expertise lies in integrating traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design practices, with a strong emphasis on sustainability, innovation, and skill development. Mr. Kumar possesses extensive hands-on experience with a wide range of conventional and sustainable materials and has worked extensively with diverse craft techniques and artisan communities. His areas of expertise include jewellery design and manufacturing, craft-based product development, sustainable material applications, design processes, and skill-based education. Throughout his career, he has contributed to curriculum development, industry collaborations, community engagement projects, and capacity-building initiatives, bridging traditional knowledge systems with contemporary design education. He joined the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in October 2021. Prior to joining NIFT, he served as an instructor at the Jewellery Product Development Centre (JPDC), New Delhi, and worked as faculty at the Unitedworld Institute of Design (UID), Gandhinagar, and has also served as an assistant professor at NIFT Gandhinagar, contributing significantly to teaching, curriculum development, and academic administration.
