Hemant Kumar is an Assistant Professor with the department of Fashion Communication and Center Coordinator. After joining NIFT Bhubaneswar in September 2022, later he joined NIFT Varanasi (June 2024). He guides undergraduate students in areas of Digital Design, Typography, Publication Design, Branding & Promotion, Craft Research, AR-VR and UI-UX Design.

His notable achievements include a design research project sponsored by NID and the Ministry of MSMEs under the Design Clinic Scheme in 2013. He worked for the promotion of handicrafts (Sikki, Madhubani, Papier-Mache) of Bihar. He designed creatives for International Buddhist Conclave 2014, Rajgir Mahotsav 2014 & Sufi Mahotsav 2015 for Bihar Tourism Department. He was a Jury member in Bihar Youth Skills Day, Kushal Yuva Program of Bihar Govt.

During WordCamp Kathmandu (Nepal, 2019), he presented on the “Importance of Colors & Typography in Modern Webpage Design”. He has over 12 years of experience in Design Education, Training and industry. He qualified for UGC-NET in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2025. He documented the Bhagalpur Silk craft cluster for the USTTAD project, initiated by the Ministry of Minority Affairs at NIFT Patna.
