Bhubaneswar CampusVidhi Nagar is an Assistant Professor in the Fashion & Lifestyle Accessories Design Department at NIFT Bhubaneswar. She has over 12 years of professional and academic experience in design practice, product development, craft-based innovation and design education. She holds a Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) and a Master of Fashion Management (MFM) from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), where she graduated with a Gold Medal and was recognised as the Student of the Year during her postgraduate studies. Before joining academia, she worked as a Government of India empanelled designer and collaborated with artisan communities across Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. Her expertise includes accessory design, design thinking, craft-based innovation and sustainable design practices.
Her academic interests include design pedagogy, sustainable product development, ethical fashion, artisan - designer collaborations and the integration of traditional craft knowledge with contemporary product design. She is particularly interested in exploring how design can create sustainable livelihood opportunities while preserving traditional craftsmanship. She actively participates in industry collaborations, Faculty Industry Attachment (FIA) programmes, curriculum development, and community-based design projects that bridge academic learning with professional practice. Her work emphasizes innovation, sustainability and socially responsible design.
Beyond her academic responsibilities, Vidhi Nagar enjoys mentoring students through live industry projects, design competitions, and experiential learning initiatives. She is passionate about promoting India's craft heritage through contemporary design interventions and believes in nurturing socially conscious and industry-ready designers. Her interests include travelling to craft clusters, exploring indigenous craft traditions, reading, and engaging with emerging trends in design, sustainability and innovation.
