Dr. Nitesh Krishnan J is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion & Lifestyle Accessories (F&LA) at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kangra. He specializes in Design detailing, 2D and 3D geometry, CAD/CAM modeling, Technical drawing, Materials manipulation and contemporary manufacturing processes, bringing over 12 years of academic and research experience to the classroom. In his current role, he teaches core modules in design detailing, manufacturing processes, digital fabrication and product drawing, guiding students to combine engineering precision, functional joinery and aesthetic detailing with lifestyle product design. He completed his Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Mechanical Engineering, Master of Engineering (ME) in Computer Integrated Manufacturing, and earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University. Prior to joining NIFT in 2021, he served for seven years as a faculty member at Anna University handling core mechanical engineering and robotics laboratories.

His research interests focus on design detailing methodologies, advanced and non-traditional manufacturing processes, electrochemical micromachining (ECMM), thermal spray coatings (HVOF), fused deposition modeling and multi-response optimization. Dr. Krishnan investigates hybrid heuristic and multi-criteria decision-making approaches to enhance machining accuracy, surface hardness and material removal rates in difficult-to-machine alloys, bridging technical manufacturing logic with intricate product development. His research findings have appeared in peer-reviewed journals, including The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Research Express, S?dhan?, and the IOSR Journal of Mechanical and Civil Engineering. His notable research publications include multi-response parameter optimization of electrochemical micromachining on masked SS304 and the investigation of inclination angles during electrochemical machining of deep inclined holes.

Beyond direct classroom instruction, Dr. Krishnan mentors design students in physical prototyping, technical design detailing, material selection, and workshop practices to translate creative concepts into functional, production-ready products. He actively supports departmental academic activities, jury evaluations, and curriculum development initiatives that bridge technical engineering methodologies with creative design education. In his professional and personal time, he engages with emerging literature in advanced digital fabrication and enjoys exploring interdisciplinary applications of technology in traditional craft and accessory sectors.
