Deep Shikha Walia is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Communication at NIFT Kangra, where she teaches publication design, visual arts, visual communication, and trend spotting. She brings over fifteen years of combined experience in academics and the design industry to her role at NIFT. Before entering academics, she worked as an Editorial Designer at Dorling Kindersley (DK), India, where she created pages for visual reference books for international markets.

Her research interests span publication design, communication design, design education, art history and craft documentation. She regularly engages in research and industry work to strengthen the integration of academic learning with research and professional practice.

Beyond teaching, Deep Shikha mentors students, does layout design and collaborates with artisans through craft cluster initiatives whenever she gets a chance. Her interests and hobbies include travelling, bird watching, and sewing.
