Dr. M. Krishnakumar is a Professor in department of Fashion Management Studies at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kannur, India, with over three decades of combined academic and industry experience in fashion management, textile and apparel manufacturing, and management education. He received his Ph.D from Anna University in Chennai, MBA from Periyar University, MSc & BSc (Costume Design & Fashion) from Bharathiar University. He specializes in Supply Chain Management, Strategic Management, Operations Management, Research Methodology, Global sourcing, Export Merchandising, Marketing & Retailing, and Quantitative Techniques. His professional journey spans academia and the textile and apparel industry, including extensive international industry experience in Indonesia. He teaches postgraduate and undergraduate courses in fashion management, merchandising, supply chain, strategy, retailing, and research.

Dr. Krishnakumar’s research focuses on consumer behaviour, retailing, sustainability, sustainability and apparel merchandising. He has published more than 50 research papers and articles in national and international journals, including Scopus- and ABDC-indexed publications, and has authored two books on apparel merchandising and costing. He has coordinated funded projects for government organizations, participated in an Indo–U.S. collaborative research project on retailing education.

Beyond teaching and research, Dr. Krishnakumar actively contributes to academic governance and professional development through curriculum design, accreditation activities, editorial and academic review responsibilities, and university boards of studies. He previously served as Centre Coordinator-FMS from 2023 to 2026. His professional interests extend to fashion sustainability, and management education, while his personal interests include writing books, researching history and ancient civilizations, and travelling.
