Mr. Amalendhu S P is an Assistant Professor in the Design Space Department at NIFT Kannur. He specializes in Design Thinking, Basic Design, Semiotics, Social Design, Inclusive Design, Design Education, and Storytelling. He brings over four years of industry experience and has served in academia at NIFT since February 2013. He teaches Design Thinking, Design Research, Self and Society, Creativity, and Spatial Geometry, encouraging critical thinking, creativity, and human-centered problem-solving. He received a B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from KCT Coimbatore and an M.Des. in Product Design from IDC, IIT Bombay.

His research interests include Spatial Visualization, Form Design, and Multisensory Perception. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Spatial Visualization at the Centre for Education Technology, IIT Bombay, since August 2023. His research explores spatial cognition, perception, and design learning, emphasizing innovative approaches that strengthen creativity, inclusive practices, and experiential education. He continuously integrates research insights into teaching and studio-based learning experiences.

Beyond academics, he enjoys film critique, observing social order, and engaging children and adults through discussions and creative activities. These interests complement his teaching philosophy and reinforce his commitment to reflective learning, empathy, collaboration, and socially responsible design education while nurturing curious, confident, and thoughtful future designers.
