Dr. Kislaya Choudhary is a Professor and former Chairperson of the Department of Textile Design (2022-24) at NIFT Mumbai, bringing 26 years of experience in textiles, design, and academic research. She specializes in encouraging social empowerment through design interventions, skill development, and industry collaborations. She holds a strong commitment to advancing sustainable development, actively aligning her educational leadership with UN Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
Her academic contributions include initiating Ministry of Textiles craft cluster projects, organizing interdisciplinary design exhibits, and publishing widely in international journals and books. She co-authored Elements of Textile Design (CBSE, 2015) and contributed a research chapter to Springer's Futuring Design Education (2024) in collaboration with IIT Delhi. Through IFFTI grants, she served as a visiting faculty at North Carolina State University (2015), the London College of Fashion, and Central Saint Martins (2024).
Dr. Choudhary engages extensively in cultural exposure by traveling across India to support artisanal communities and collaborating with global creative experts.
