Ms. Namrata Singh is an Assistant Professor in the Textile Design Department at NIFT Mumbai. She joined the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in 2018 . Prior to her academic career at NIFT, she gained valuable experience working in the craft sector and textile industries.

Ms. Singh is an alumna of NIFT Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, from the Textile Design batch of 2009–2013. She was conferred with the Best Academic & Community Service Award and awarded a gold medal in recognition of her exceptional performance. Her academic journey includes international exposure as a summer student at The Swiss Textile College, Switzerland (2011), and a semester exchange student at The Glasgow School of Art, Scotland (2012), where her garment design was featured in the Scottish national magazine Scotland on Sunday (March 2012). She later pursued her Master’s degree at Birmingham City University, UK, graduating with distinction.

With a deep-rooted passion for Indian crafts, Ms. Singh has been actively contributing to the sector since 2014. Her work includes collaborations with Rehwa Society (Maheshwari craft cluster) and Amoha (a contemporary craft brand). She has worked closely with artisans and continues to guide students at NIFT through various craft-based projects, fostering a strong link between academic learning and field engagement.

Driven by a belief in the power of design and global perspectives, Ms. Singh is committed to nurturing creativity in the next generation of designers while continuing her enduring engagement with craft and design.
