Sayandeep Debnath is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Textile Design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Mumbai. He has more than thirteen years of experience across teaching, industry, and academic research. He has a B.Tech. in textile engineering and an M.Tech. in the chemical processing of textiles. Before joining the National Institute of Fashion Technology in 2021, he worked with organizations such as Birla Corporation Ltd, ICAR-National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology (NINFET) on a project funded by the National Agricultural Science Fund (NASF), and Welspun India Ltd. He published research articles, book chapters with reputed academic publishers such as Springer Nature, Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, Textile Research Journal, and Journal of Natural Fibres. He mentors students and promotes academic growth through student activities as he also serves as SDAC. He encourages research, innovation, and collaboration between academia and industry. His professional interests include sustainability, sustainable design, Indian craft and natural materials for responsible textile education and practice.
