Shripati Bhat is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion and Lifestyle Accessory Design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Mumbai. With over 16 years of teaching experience at NIFT, he has made significant contributions to design education through his interdisciplinary approach to art, design, and visual culture.
His teaching portfolio includes Design Fundamentals, Drawing, Craft-Based Design, Form Studies, and Art and Design Aesthetics. His pedagogical practice emphasizes the development of creativity, visual literacy, critical thinking, and design sensitivity, fostering a strong conceptual foundation among students.
Mr. Bhat's research interests are centred on Folk Visual Culture, and he is currently pursuing a PhD in this area. His academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Fine Art (Painting) and a Master of Fine Art (Mural) from Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai.
Prior to joining NIFT, he worked as a freelance artist and served as a Lecturer at Sir J. J. School of Applied Art, Mumbai. As a practising artist, he has participated in the Bombay Art Society Exhibition as well as several group art exhibitions, reflecting his sustained engagement with contemporary artistic practice alongside academia.
