Sharmila Sure is an Associate Professor in the Department of Fashion Technology, with expertise in apparel production. She joined the department in 2005; She has served as the Centre Coordinator of the department from 2008 to 2010. She teaches a range of subjects related to apparel manufacturing and garment development, including sewing equipment, quality control, pattern making for woven and knitted garments, garment construction, and digital pattern making. Her academic and professional interests focus on strengthening students’ technical knowledge and practical skills in apparel production through structured, industry-relevant teaching.

Her research interests centre on fashion education, apparel production, pattern making, and the application of emerging technologies in teaching and learning. She is also interested in digital technologies and innovative pedagogical approaches that can support the teaching of technical subjects in fashion design and technology.
In addition to teaching and research, she is actively involved in mentoring students and supporting their overall development. She has been part of student extra-curricular activities as a coordinator for 4 years.  She has a keen interest in theatre, travelling, and reading.
