About

Dr. Jayati Mukherjee is an Architect, from the Department of Architecture, Jadavpur University, with a Masters in Architecture as a GATE Topper. As a senior academician, she headed KD Department and started F&LA Department at Kolkata , and now heads F&LA Department at 20 campuses as Chairperson. Experienced as an Architect in Kolkata , an Assistant Professor at BIT Mesra and as a Gazetted Officer with the Government of West Bengal, she joined NIFT in 2003. Her expert domains include Design, Technical Detailing & Materiality, Product & Prototyping, Trends, alongside deep empathy towards Heritage & Social design. Crafts remain her forte, promoting Sustainability in Design. Under her leadership, F&LA initiated the future friendly curriculum to address changing dynamics of society, building ethical and social Designers.

Dr. Jayati completed PhD from her prestigious Alma Mater , amalgamates the two pathways she traversed in Design. The NIFT journey led to executing various projects for the Govt. of West Bengal, NJB, KVIC, Ministry of DoNER, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh and others. Her work culminated into presentations at International Conferences and Publications, including a chapter in an Encyclopaedia by Elsevier on Crafts related to Durga Puja of Kolkata and a book chapter with Springer, apart from being invited to various Industry events and Institutes as Guest of honour and Jury Member.
A versatile personality, she is an expert in Music, Dance and Dramatics, and is a pillar of strength to students, honing their talents towards pursuing holistic skill and personality development.
