Dr. Ranjan Kumar Saha is a Professor in the Department of Fashion Technology and also serves as the Link-Chairperson of the department. He holds a PhD in Fashion Merchandising Management and specializes in apparel merchandising. With 29 years of total professional experience, including 24 years in academia, he brings extensive expertise in apparel merchandising, apparel costing, and garment manufacturing technology. He joined NIFT in 2005 at NIFT Mumbai, following professional experience in the garment industry as a Senior Manager in Production and Merchandising in India and abroad. His areas of specialization include cutting and stitching technology, production planning and control, work study, and related aspects of garment production.

Prof. Saha's research interests focus primarily on apparel production and merchandising. He has published several research papers in national and international journals in these areas. He has also been involved in various projects at NIFT and has contributed to industry-oriented academic initiatives. In addition, he conducts Management Development Programmes (MDPs), training programmes, and short courses for industry professionals, helping them strengthen their knowledge and skills in fashion merchandising and garment production technology. His academic and professional engagements reflect a strong emphasis on connecting industry practices with teaching, research, and professional development.

He continues to engage with industry professionals through training, mentoring, and capacity-building programmes in apparel merchandising and garment production. His professional interests include emerging practices in apparel manufacturing, merchandising, costing, production planning, and work study. Through his academic responsibilities and industry outreach activities, he contributes to the development of students and working professionals and promotes the practical application of knowledge in the fashion and apparel sector.
