Dr. Satyaki Roy is an Assistant Professor in the Fashion & Lifestyle Accessories (F&LA) Department at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kolkata. He specializes in fashion forecasting, accessory design, lifestyle product development, design research, and visual communication. With around 19 years of academic and industry experience, he contributes to teaching, curriculum development, mentoring, and industry-oriented design education. He holds a PhD in Fashion Forecasting, a Master of Arts in Painting, and a B.Des in Accessory Design from NIFT.
His research interests include fashion forecasting, trend analysis, sustainable design, craft-based innovation, materials and processes, and the integration of traditional knowledge with contemporary product development. He is the author of Fashion Forecasting in India and contributes to academic and research initiatives. His international collaboration with LIDI, Ethiopia, and CLRI, India, focuses on design consultancy and curriculum development. He received the Best Young Designer Award at Lineapelle, Italy.
Dr. Roy actively mentors students and promotes practice-based learning, research, and industry engagement. His professional interests include emerging design trends, Indian crafts, lifestyle accessories, and design innovation. He also contributes to institutional academic, cultural initiatives, encouraging research-led and socially relevant design practice.
