Associate Professor, Textile Design (BDes)
Hyderabad CampusJyothirmai Singothu is presently working as an Associate Professor in the Textile Design Department.
She completed her M.Sc. in Textiles and Clothing from Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University.
She has researched the softening of Mestha fibre and is pursuing her Ph.D. from Avinashilingam University.
She had 8 years of teaching experience prior to joining NIFT and has been working with NIFT since 2008.
She has a total experience of 26 years in teaching young graduates in elite Government and Corporate institutions.
Jyothirmai teaches various subjects including History of Indian Textiles, Yarn Craft, Hand Knitting, Woven Structures, Surface Design Techniques, Pattern Making, Garment Construction, Fabric and Product Styling, Textile Art, Creative Textiles, Research Methodology, Woven Design Project, and Product Fundamentals.
She has handled additional responsibilities as Co-Centre Coordinator for the Foundation Programme for 3 years, Centre Co-Coordinator for the Textile Design Department for 3 years, Student Development Activity Coordinator for 6 years, and CIC for 6 months.
She is currently handling the responsibility of Centre Coordinator – Foundation Programme at NIFT Hyderabad.
Jyothirmai has been involved in rural women empowerment projects with SERP and NEPGEL for the Government of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
She has presented and published numerous articles in National and International journals, Scopus-indexed journals, seminars, and newspapers.
