Dr. Tarun Agrawal is an Associate Professor (Docent) in the Division of Supply and Operations Management at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. His research focuses on digital transformation in supply chains and production logistics, particularly in the areas of traceability, supply chain visibility, sustainability, and circular economy applications. His work integrates emerging technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, RFID, and IoT to enhance transparency, collaboration, and decision-making across complex global supply networks.
After completing his Master's degree in Industrial Systems Engineering at ENSAIT, France, in 2015, he pursued a fully funded Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate, earning a PhD in 2019 through a unique triple-degree program involving Université de Lille (France), University of Borås (Sweden), and Soochow University (China). Following research positions at the University of Borås and KTH Royal Institute of Technology, he joined Chalmers University of Technology in 2022 and was appointed Docent in 2024.
Since 2025, Dr. Agrawal has served as Director of the Master's Programme in Supply Chain Management and Educational Area Leader for Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, IT, and Industrial Engineering. His professional achievements include international research awards, participation in projects recognized by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA), and contributions as a UN/CEFACT expert on sustainable supply chain traceability. Through his research, teaching, and industry collaborations, he continues to shape the future of digital and sustainable supply chain management.
