Palash Roy is an Assistant Professor in the Textile Design Department at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bhopal. He specializes in textile and surface design, weave design, design fundamentals, thematic design processes, computer embroidery, and portfolio development. He brings a multidisciplinary perspective to design education, informed by academic training in textile design and professional experience in both India and the United Kingdom. He holds an MA in Sustainable Textile Design from Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London, and a BA in Textile Design from NIFT Kolkata.

His professional and academic interests focus on sustainable textile practices, contemporary surface development, craft-based design, digital textile processes, and the integration of technology with traditional textile practices. His postgraduate research explored the development of Loofah Denim, investigating biomaterial applications and sustainable approaches to textile design. He also has professional experience in academic administration and textile studio practice at the University of the Arts London, which strengthens his interdisciplinary approach to design education.

At NIFT Bhopal, he teaches and mentors students across various stages of the design process, encouraging experimentation, critical thinking, and individual creative expression. His interests include craft communities, sustainability, design education, and the evolving relationship between traditional craft and contemporary design. He also enjoys exploring visual arts, material practices, and cultural traditions that inform his creative and pedagogical practice.
