Panchkula CampusDr. Chavi Goyal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Technology and has been associated with NIFT since August 2010. She completed her Ph.D. from Banasthali University in the area of Traditional Costumes. Her areas of specialization include Traditional Indian Textiles, Ethnography studies with relation to Geographical indication, Research Methodology, Material studies, Traditional Costume of world and India , Design Process, , Product analysis development (Apparel) , Fabric Science and finishing Material Studies, and subjects related to Apparel Manufacturing. During her tenure at NIFT, she served as Cluster Initiative Coordinator for four years and as UI-Project Coordinator from 2022 to 2026.
Dr. Goyal’s research interests include sustainability, Ethnographic research, Geographic Indication in Craft sector, Traditional Costumes, Indian textiles, and regional innovations. She has published research papers in national journals and contributed to academic and skill-development projects, including initiatives with ITIs in Himachal Pradesh. She has also served as a resource person and expert for programmes on GI, handicrafts, digital storytelling, and grassroots innovation.
Beyond academics, Dr. Goyal actively promotes Indian crafts and traditional cultural practices. She enjoys organising webinars and knowledge-sharing activities for students. Her personal interests include meditation and healing techniques, astrology, and writing poetry in Hindi and English.
