They say education prepares you for a career, but the finest education prepares you for life. For me, NIFT Shillong was far more than a college—it was a transformative journey that shaped my perspective, strengthened my character, and gave me the confidence to trust myself. Nestled in the scenic hills of Meghalaya and surrounded by the cultural richness of the North-East, NIFT Shillong provided an education that extended beyond classrooms.

As a Textile Design student, I had the opportunity to explore India’s rich craft heritage through field visits, craft cluster projects, and interactions with artisans across Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Learning about traditional weaving practices, Eri silk, and indigenous textile traditions taught me that textiles are not merely products but powerful expressions of culture, identity, and heritage. The faculty constantly encouraged independent thinking, curiosity, and resilience. Through challenging projects and creative exploration, I developed confidence in my abilities as a designer.

Receiving the Best Graduation Project Award was a proud milestone that reinforced my belief in my creative vision. Since graduation, I have contributed to products for global fashion brands like H&M , Zara, American Eagle Outfitters, El corte but the greatest gift NIFT Shillong gave me was self-confidence. It taught me to embrace challenges, adapt to change, and continue learning.
