The Annual Design Collection (DC) Show of NIFT Kangra was successfully held on 25 May 2026 amidst great enthusiasm and celebration of creativity, innovation, and craftsmanship. The event marked the culmination of the academic journey of the graduating students and served as a platform to showcase their talent and design excellence.

Convocation Ceremony for the Graduating Batch of 2025

The Convocation Ceremony for the graduating batch of 2025 was held with great solemnity and pride at Tanda Auditorium. The Chief Guest, Padamshree Biman Bihari Das, graced the occasion with his presence and inspiring words. The Guest of Honour, Ms. Deepshikha Chawla, added to the dignity of the event. Other distinguished dignitaries included Dr. Shinju Mahajan, Head of Academic Affairs, NIFT, who administered the convocation pledge, and Prof. (Dr.) Rahul Chandra, Director, NIFT Kangra, who presented the academic report.

Dr. Swati Sharma

Dr. Swati Sharma is an Assistant Professor at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kangra. She specializes in technical textiles, sustainable materials, polymer composites, and biocomposites. She received her Ph.D. in Textile Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, where her research focused on green composites based on ramie fabrics and polylactic acid (PLA). She teaches textile and material-related courses and actively engages in interdisciplinary research at the interface of textile engineering and sustainable material development.

Mr. Rajesh Kumar

Rajesh Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. He has extensive experience in fashion design education, garment construction, pattern making, styling, and design development. His teaching and research focus on bridging traditional craftsmanship with contemporary fashion practices, encouraging innovation while preserving India's rich textile and apparel heritage.

Dr. Rajeev Kumar

Dr. Rajeev Kumar is an Asst. Professor and Course Coordinator in the Department of Fashion Management Studies (FMS) at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kangra. With nearly 16 years of academic, research, and industry experience, he specializes in fashion marketing, retail management, consumer behaviour, branding, research methodology, and strategic management. His professional experience spans leading higher education institutions, including NIFT Chennai, NIT Kurukshetra, FDDI, Maharshi Dayanand University, and Kurukshetra University.

Dr. Babita Bhandari

Dr. Babita Bhandari is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Textile Design and serves as the Centre Coordinator for the Foundation Programme at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. She is engaged in teaching undergraduate courses in Textile Design, Fashion Design, and the Foundation Programme, with specialization in Traditional Indian Handlooms and Textile Crafts, World Textiles, Surface Design, Sustainable and Artisanal Fashion and Textiles, and Craft-Based Design Interventions.

Ms. Deep Shikha Walia

Deep Shikha Walia is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Communication at NIFT Kangra, where she teaches publication design, visual arts, visual communication, and trend spotting. She brings over fifteen years of combined experience in academics and the design industry to her role at NIFT. Before entering academics, she worked as an Editorial Designer at Dorling Kindersley (DK), India, where she created pages for visual reference books for international markets.
