Ms. Sumita Agrawal is an academic, researcher and textile design professional with a specialization in textile trends, computer-aided textile design and Indian crafts. She has been associated with NIFT since 2010, bringing together her academic background in textile design and economics with a sustained interest in design research and education. Her research explores consumer behaviour and emerging trends in fashion and home textiles, with a particular interest in how changing lifestyles, cultural contexts and notions of value influence consumer choices.
Dr. Bharat Jain holds a Ph.D. in the area of ECO-Denim Uniforms, having done Masters in Fashion Technology Degree from NIFT with over 24 years of extensive International & Domestic market experience in (Woven Garment) Merchandising Operations, Product Development, Technical Textiles, Buying & apparel marketing & Sales . He is actively involved in teaching, research and consultancy.
Jalpa Vanikar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Communication and serves as the Coordinator for International and Domestic Linkages. An alumna of NIFT, she holds a Master’s in Business Management and an M.A. in Mass Communication and Journalism. Her multidisciplinary academic and professional background enables her to effectively translate students’ skills and creative capabilities into practical design solutions.
Mr. Manish Bhargava is an Associate Professor in the Department of Textile Design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). He serves as Campus Coordinator and acts as Advisor to NIFT Daman. Specializing in textile processing, fibre technology, and textile chemistry, he brings extensive technical and academic expertise to design education. He completed his B.Tech. in Textile Chemistry from Rajasthan University in 1997 and earned his M.Sc. (Tech) in Technology of Fibres and Textile Processing from the University Department of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, in 2000.
Mr. Manish is an Assistant Professor in Fashion & Lifestyle Accessories and specializes in Machanical Engineering & Design. He teaches undergraduate courses and researches in Robotics. He has an overall teaching, research and industrial experience of over 14 years and joined the institute in 2021. He is pursuing his PhD in Robotics from Dhirubhai Ambani University and has research interests in mechanical design, wearables, IoT, and smart systems design. He has written 01 book, presented 01 research paper, and granted 01 patent to his name.
Dr. Mahesh Shaw is a faculty member in the Textile Design Department at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Gandhinagar, where he teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students. His areas of expertise encompass diverse facets of textile technology, sustainable operations, and fashion supply chain management. He joined NIFT Gandhinagar in 2008 and brings substantial industry experience, having previously worked in the textile industry in various leadership capacities. He holds a PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.
Dr. Amisha Mehta is a faculty with Fashion Communication department at Gandhinagar campus. She teaches major and deepening specialisation undergraduate courses in the area of digital communication. She joined the institute in 2002. She previously served as Campus Coordinator - FDIT (Fashion Design and Information Technology), Campus Coordinator BFT (Bachelor of Fashion Technology), Head - IT, Regional Industry Coordinator, Student Development Activity Coordinator and Campus Academic Coordinator. She received her PhD from NIFT, New Delhi.
An engineer, educator, and technologist, Mr. Pushpak Raval operates at the convergence of advanced computing and computational fashion. Serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Technology since 2021, he leverages over two decades of combined academic and industry experience to drive innovation across creative design and institutional digital transformation. Mr. Raval holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Computer Engineering and is currently pursuing his Ph.D., focusing on deep learning applications tailored for the fashion ecosystem.
Dr. Panchami is an Associate Professor in the Fashion Design Department at NIFT Gandhinagar, with a professional association with the institute since 1995, beginning as a student and progressing into academia. Her areas of expertise include skill upgradation and product development through handmade, hand-embroidered, and sustainable practices. She has contributed to diverse projects involving hand embroidery, weaving, printing and dyeing, uniform development, and skill enhancement training for ITI teachers.
